Family Philanthropy

The Seattle Foundation helps families with their philanthropy in a variety of ways:

One-on-one Consulting with Your Philanthropic Advisor
Your family is unique, as are your philanthropic goals. The Foundation’s donor services representatives work with you to explore your values, set goals and make a plan to achieve them—together. We can help you prepare for younger generations to take the philanthropic lead, involve children—of all ages—in your giving and teach them about philanthropy. We also help families make annual gifts together, find common ground, and successfully connect with their common interest areas.

Strategic Planning and Education for the Next Generation
The Seattle Foundation staff has worked with multigenerational families and family foundations, facilitating workshops (1–2 days) focused on strategic philanthropic planning and next-generation philanthropic education. This fee-based service is open to any family who is ready to take their family philanthropy to the next level and engage in discussions and planning that will result in long-term family giving plans. The Foundation is uniquely positioned to further help connect families to programs and charities locally that fit within their interest areas.

Resources and Learning Opportunities
We offer opportunities throughout the year to learn about ways to engage your family in philanthropy, including the Giving with Goals workshop and Finance, Investing & Philanthropy 101 for teens. You may also wish to explore the resources listed below.
