Navos is the second largest mental health center in King County. Their services focus on recovery and wellness, and on the strengths of individuals with mental illness.
Proven Success
Navos offers an infant mental health program that focuses on helping children form close, secure relationships with their parents by working with the child and the family. They believe that children with strong relationships have an easier time mastering their emotions, and therefore are better able to explore the environment, learn, and develop. To meet the increasing demand for infant mental health services, Navos is training and mentoring therapists at Auburn Youth Resources, Kent Youth and Family Services, Renton Area Youth & Family Services and Valley Cities Counseling & Consultation.
Sustainability
Navs began a comprehensive fund development program four years ago, and has been successful at increasing community awareness f and support for their programs and capital campaign. Navos provides a broad range of services with limited resources. Private funding is needed to supplement public dollars for mental health care.
Navos is raising funds from public and private sources to build a new Mental Health and Wellness Center in South King County. The new facility is in Burien and is a model for mental health and wellness programs and client-focused care. They are constructing a three-story 45,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art campus that is adjacent to their Burien Heights Residences.
Collaboration
Navos has taken a leadership role in providing mental health services to very young children in King County. In addition to providing direct care, they also serve as the lead agency for the Navos Consortium. Navos helps 18 other agencies in King County to provide mental health services to approximately 3,000 youth each year. Today, more than half the children treated in the King County mental health system are seen through the members of the Navos Consortium.
