On June 23, 2011, The Seattle Foundation staged the biggest day of charitable giving in King County history. In a 17-hour period, GiveBIG generated over $3.5 million in total gifts to more than 900 nonprofit organizations, and $21,000 in
Golden Tickets ($1,000 gifts to randomly selected nonprofits every hour, with one $5,000 ticket), with nearly 19,000 individual contributions.
GiveBIG was a remarkable day, fueled by hundreds of nonprofit organizations that rallied their donors to give on June 23. In addition, we had tremendous media support that drove people to get online and contribute to their favorite causes and organizations. Nearly 20 local companies and Seattle Foundation fundholders generously contributed to build the more than $500,000 pool that stretched donors’ gifts even further.
