The
Building Resilience Initiative (BRI) will be coming to an end at the close of 2011. This three-year funding collaborative was created by The Seattle Foundation in 2008 as a response to the economic downturn. Including pooled and aligned grants, BRI has helped contribute over $4.6 million to nonprofit organizations serving the King County community. Recognizing that more and more nonprofits are trying to deliver services in more efficient and creative ways due to the economic downturn and reduced funding, the last year of BRI funding focused on strengthening organizations and improving existing services that build the resiliency of individuals and families. Although this initiative will be concluding, the participating funders have learned a great deal and will continue to make grants in response to the recession.
