Sustainable Communities Program

Date: Dec 9, 2011
The Seattle Foundation is co-convening a conversation with other local funders to discuss how we can work together to support thriving, equitable, diverse, and environmentally sustainable low-income communities in the region. A few months ago, a number of funders met to learn more about the Growing Transit Communities project—a three-year, $5 million federally funded Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant program that merges community building and transit-oriented development around high-capacity transit stations throughout the central Puget Sound region. A meeting is scheduled on December 15 for funders to discuss what is needed for communities to be complete neighborhoods for all people to live in and what can be accomplished together to complement the Sustainable Communities program and the light-rail investments.
