The Seattle Foundation's GiveBIG is a one-day, online charitable giving event to inspire people to give generously to nonprofit organizations who make our region a stronger, more vibrant community for all. GiveBIG is designed to raise money for the more than 1,400 nonprofit organizations that are profiled on our website. We’ll use contributions from GiveBIG sponsors to match a percentage of the individual contributions made through our website.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does GiveBIG work?
All donations made through The Seattle Foundation's website on GiveBIG day will receive a percentage of the matching funds (or "stretch") pool. This percentage depends on the size of the stretch pool and how much is raised in total donations on GiveBIG day. For example, if the stretch pool is $500,000 and the total amount raised that day is $2,000,000, then the stretch percentage is 25% (or 25 cents on the dollar).
Once you know the GiveBIG Stretch Pool percentage, you can multiply that with the total amount your organization raises on GiveBIG day to find out how much you will receive from the GiveBIG Stretch Pool.
Do all donations qualify for GiveBIG "stretch" dollars?
We will "stretch" all donations up to $5,000 per donor, per organization. The reason we are limiting the amount that qualifies for "stretch" pool is to help these funds go further for organizations that rely on smaller donations.
When is GiveBIG?
GiveBIG 2014 will take place on May 6, 2014.
Can any NPO participate in GiveBIG?
If you are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (or have a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor) and have a profile on our website, then you are eligible to participate. Your organization must have an active Click & Pledge account to participate.
If your organization does not currently have a profile, your organization must have an office in King County and provide at least 50% of their services within King County. There are no restrictions based on nonprofit size.
Fiscally Sponsored Organizations
Eligible fiscally sponsored organizations who do not have a profile on our website must sign up for an online profile by February 3, 2014.
Your organization's fiscal sponsor must sign up by February 3 for an account with our online donations processor, Click & Pledge.
Eligible 501(c)(3) organizations who do not have a profile on our website must sign up for an online profile by March 3, 2014.
Your organization must also sign up by March 3 for an account with our online donations processor, Click & Pledge.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance with profiles or signing up for Click & Pledge.
Does it cost anything to participate?
There is no cost for nonprofits to participate in GiveBIG. However, online credit card donations for GiveBIG 2014 are subject to a 2.85% per transaction processing fee by our online donations provider and credit card companies for most credit cards. Some credit cards, usually rewards or business credit cards, carry an additional non-qualified fee of 1%. The Seattle Foundation does not receive a percentage of gifts for supporting and overseeing GiveBIG and does not receive any income from credit card transactions. The "stretch" amount will be determined based on the total donation amount, before the processing fee, and donors will receive a tax deduction on the full donation amount.
How does my organization receive online donations on GiveBIG day?
The Seattle Foundation partners with Click & Pledge to process donations made through our website. Click & Pledge offers the Foundation and the nonprofits on our site a special rate (2.85% per transaction for most credit cards) and has waived all setup and monthly fees.
All nonprofits with profiles on The Seattle Foundation's website are required sign up with Click & Pledge to participate. Organizations receive donations directly into their bank accounts and are able to see in real-time the donations as they come in on GiveBIG day, among a number of other benefits to nonprofits. In addition, nonprofits can use all Click & Pledge services on their own site for no extra fee.
What is the deadline to sign up for Click & Pledge?
The deadline to sign up for Click & Pledge is Monday, March 3, 2014.
What if my organization chooses not to sign up for Click & Pledge?
We are happy to continue to have your organization's profile on our website if your organization chooses not to participate in GiveBIG. In that case, we will remove your organization's profile from the website about two weeks prior to the event.
What is the deadline to sign up for a nonprofit profile on your website?
Fiscally sponsored organizations must request a profile no later than February 3, 2014. The deadline for 501(c)(3) organizations to sign up for a profile is Monday, March 3, 2014.
What is the deadline to edit my organization's profile on your website?
We strongly recommend that you make edits to your organization's profile by March 3, 2014 so that we can review and publish them in time for GiveBIG day.
