Each year the Foundation distributes approximately $250,000 in grants to local organizations or institutions through the eight Medical Funds. The Foundation relies on a small group of researchers and community-based physicians to provide peer review of the applications and make funding recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Due to the variety of scientific questions being addressed and medical equipment being requested, Foundation staff looks to the committee for their expertise and advice as to which applications are of strong scientific merit in an effort to best meet the intent of the donors.
