The Whitehorse Foundation is interested in programs that:
- Focus on prevention and root causes of problems rather than intervention
- Address many problems at once, rather than one problem at a time
- Strengthen families’ capacity to support, nurture and guide their children
- Promote responsible parenthood to improve children’s emotional, economic and social well-being
- Enable families to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for self-sufficiency
- Involve families and community residents in program design, development and management
- Will have a significant and ongoing impact
- Offer opportunities for leveraging resources by forming partnerships with other grantmakers, other nonprofits, the government and the private sector
