Bellevue Civic Theatre

Description

Bellevue Civic Theater provides professional theatre at affordable prices to Bellevue and the Eastside.  We choose to focus our work on comedies because we want our audiences to laugh and enjoy themselves for a few hours, always leaving the theatre with a smile on their faces.  We fill a niche in the Bellevue arts and culture scene as there is not another community theatre in Bellevue.  Employing local actors and stage crew is important to us as we need as many venues as possible for artists to share their craft.  We also believe it's important to make theatre available to as many patrons as possible, hence our free ticket programs (more below).  Over the 11 years we have been performing in Bellevue, we are always proud to add to the vibrant arts culture in our community.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

In order to survive in the current economy, BCT has had to be creative in its thinking.  One of our greatest recent successes is partnering with Renton Civic Theatre on a show this year.  Because we don't share an audience, we were able to cut expenses for both theatres by sharing the cost.  It may seem counter-intuitive, but since there was a shared cost, we were able to do a larger cast show while still cutting expenses.  More actors working for a longer period of time, performing a name show while helping each theatre keep the budget balanced in a difficult economy.  Very positive!

One of our current needs is to bring our marketing back up to former standards. Due to the lower attendance last year, we had to scale back on our marketing efforts; however, we find that if we stick to our targeted marketing efforts we do see a positive impact on season ticket holders.
