BlueStreet Jazz Voices

Description

BlueStreet Jazz Voices is a group of 20 singers backed up by a world-class jazz, 4 piece band.  Its singers come from diverse backgounds and communities across Puget Sound. The group sets itself very high standards of musicality and professionalism that truly impresses.  Its repertoire is enjoyed by all ages.

BlueStreet supports our region by sharing its art form in self-produced concerts, community concert series, and jazz festivals.  The group has performed at prestigious venues like The Triple Door, Tula's jazz club and Benaroya Hall.   We also provide pro bono concerts at elderly care facilities and travel to underserved communities to present concerts and free workshops to students.

Our workshops teach a range of jazz styles, composers, and repertoire to vocal and instrumental musicians.  BlueStreet is passionate about inspiring young people in our scholastic music programs to expand and continue their personal commitment to music.

BlueStreet is an important resource for the Puget Sound community as we provde access to this art form for audiences and singers alike.  Vocal jazz ensembles like BlueStreet are quite rare both locally and nationwide, the numbers are few!  Supporting BlueStreet will help preserve this rare art form in our community.

BlueStreet Jazz Voices Programs

Everett WA, Gateway Middle School, Jazz Workshops and Concert Performance - March 2013
BlueStreet went to Gateway Middle School in Everett to provide vocal workshops to the middle school music students.  We followed up the workshops with a concert at Everett Civic Auditiorium.  We shared our music and stage with the middle schoolers in a quintessential moment of music expression the students will remember for years to come.
    -  With your support, BlueStreet could continue traveling to other Puget Sound communities to provide workshops and concerts to underserved communities.

Pro Bono Concerts to Elderly Care Homes
It is rare for a group our size to give concerts at these facilities.  As a performer, there is no greater feeling than to experience the joy on the faces of these audiences.
    -  BlueStreet would love to expand these offerings with your support.

Collaborative Concerts with Other Arts Organizations
The synergy produced by these events brings more value to the community by experiencing multiple groups in one setting which offer more energy toward satisfying their community goals.
    - BlueStreet would like the opportunity to create more collaborative opportunities with other community organizations.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

BlueStreet recently performed a self-produced concert at the Broadway Performance Hall and the famous Seattle Jazz Vespers concert series.  These were a very popular and successful events.  The Seattle Jazz Vespers concert series is a good-will, donation only event.

In order to produce these types of events, BlueStreet must pay for all aspects of production. For self promotion concerts we rent the facility, hire a graphic designer to create advertising pieces, pay for media advertising, and hire the band etc.  Additionally, we have monthly operating expenses for rehearsal space, insurance, equipment storage and the like.

To provide our offering, we must have the funds to meet all these expenses.

Like most arts organizations, ticket sales cover only a small part of our expenses.  We rely on generous donors who understand the importance of continuing and expanding our role in the community.  Our need is simple, we would like your support to continue our community activities.  Please give generously.

Thank you!
