Compassion in Action

Description

Compassion in Action engages in building and administering schools in countries where depressed economic conditions exist. Currently we are serving indigenous people in Latin America. Compassion in Action's schools benefit the entire surrounding community in which they are placed, and give children preschool through high school age, an educational opportunity that would not be otherwise available.

Student health and physical condition is also monitored and corrected when necessary by professional medical assistance and by nutritional feeding programs.

This holistic approach maximizes the children's ability to achieve their highest potential.

Programs

Compassion in Action Programs

Compassion in Action offers an excellent preschool, elementary, and secondary education, in conjunction with music lessons (instrumental and vocal), art classes (weaving, and pottery making), and league sports (boys and girls soccer teams).

Volunteer older students are taught horticulture after school, and can assist the school gardener with planting and caring for vegetable and flower gardens, and fruit trees on the school property. The cultivated fruits and vegetables are used to supplement the school's feeding program.

Students are taught proper health sanitation methods, such as hand washing before meals, and brushing and flossing their teeth.
