Coupeville Arts Center dba Pacific NorthWest Art School Programs

Our advanced level courses, conferences and forums in Painting, Photography and Fiber Arts are headed by nationally and internationally renowned artists who share their skills and experience within a focused, education based classroom setting.  Here, students have the opportunity to hone their talents and explore their art in the context of improving and contributing to the community.

Several times per year PNW Art School hosts Art Expeditions, touring the hot spots of arts and culture, and allowing students to experience the rich history and breathtaking scenery of many of the world’s most storied locations. Students also attend workshops taught by local artisans, giving them an in-depth understanding of artistic expression in the region.

PNW Art School also sponsors events for the community, such as the Plein Air Painters' U.S. Open, the only event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. This unique competition brings artists from around the world to paint the beautiful harbors, quaint towns, and rolling prairies of Whidbey Island in the “plein air”.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Pacific NorthWest Art School recently completed a sweeping rebranding and marketing campaign designed to dramatically increase our national and international exposure. The efforts have been highly successful; in just one year the number of student sign-ups has increased by over 20%, with the number of out of state and international students increasing by 25%. We hope to steadily maintain this growth for years to come, fueled by a renewed passion for the arts, and dedication to those we serve.

Current Need
In response to the exciting expansions in our organization, we have undertaken a major overhaul of our facilities. The primary focus of our efforts will be repairing, upgrading and performing preventative maintenance. This will help us sustain our facilities in the future, increase efficiency, streamline our services, and expand our offerings in the community. Additionally, in a time of rapid growth general operating, programmatic and staff support funding remain high priorities.
