Fauntleroy Children's Center

FCC is sponsored by the Fauntleroy Community Service Agency.  The Children's Center serves children between the ages of 1 month and 12 years.  The core of our program is to help children build a strong foundation for life long learning and promote positive self-esteem. We provide a play based curriculum where children have fun learning, become critical thinkers and actively engage in negotiating differences and solving problems.  We build community by creating a partnership with our families, helping children and families develop lasting friendships.

Mission Statement
Fauntleroy Children's Center is a nationally accredited nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community and families of the greater West Seattle area by offering high quality childcare in an educational environment.  Our skilled, professional staff provides a secure. stable and diverse environment where children want to be.  Our mission is to work in collaboration with the families we serve and the community to enrich each child's social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth.

Fauntleroy Children's Center Programs

Fauntleroy Children's Center offers 3 programs for children; infant/toddler care, preschool/prekindergarten early education and wrap around enrichment care for school-age children.  During the summer months our school-age program expands into a full day camp for children called Summer Explorers.  Parents and guardians are actively involved in the school. Families are encouraged to serve on the Advisory Board and take other leadership roles in the organization.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Our most recent and significant success took place in February of 2010.  Our sponsoring organization, the Fauntleroy Community Service Agency was able to purchase our school building from the Seattle School District. Fauntleroy Children's Center occupied the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse as a master tenant since October 1981.  This purchase gave FCC a permanent home and also provides space for other community use.  This lovely facility was built in 1917 with additions in the 1950s.  Needless to say there are many needs with an older building but the most pressing is for a new roof.  We have completed over half of this project to date and are in the process of fundraising for the balance.
