Cedar River Clinics (Feminist Women's Health Center) Programs
Abortion Care
We provide early and later abortions including a special fetal indications program. We are the only provider of surgical abortions in South King and serve 2500 women annually. About 65% of clients are low income and qualify for State Medicaid covered pregnancy care. Community health centers (HealthPoint, Planned Parenthood, SeaMar, Public Health) refer women for care they don’t provide themselves.
Birth Control/Well Woman Care
We serve 1500 annually for basic reproductive care. We are contracted with DSHS to provide Take Charge family planning to low income uninsured people. We strive to keep care affordable and make it empowering. In 2013, we are launching a Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Health Program.
Community Education
Education occurs with clients in the clinic during every appointment. Additionally our three websites offer useful information about birth control, women’s health, and abortion to the public. We published the one-of-a-kind Birth Control Comparison Chart and companion website (
www.Birth-Control-Comparison.info) to help people better understand and compare their options. In 2013, we are expanding our community education to include an on-line video series on reproductive health for adults and teens. We are developing free community workshops in our clinics and a speakers bureau available to community organizations, youth groups, and schools to request education services.
Recent Successes and Current Challenges
Recent Success: We were granted AAAHC accreditation for 2012-2014. As the
only AAAHC accredited abortion provider in Washington since 2001, our clinics meet the rigorous standards for quality set by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Centers and are the
Number One place where physicians around the Pacific Northwest refer women.
To strike down barriers to reproductive healthcare access, your contribution can help cover care when a gap exists between what a woman can pay and what her care costs, pay for medical interpreters for women with limited English proficiency, help a woman travel or stay overnight nearby while receiving care, or pay for medications and tests.
