Fulcrum Foundation Programs
The Tuition Assistance program provides tuition grants to students through a need-based application process. In the 2011-2012 school year we awarded 1,400 grants.
Fulcrum provides assistance to schools for operating costs, emergency needs, and new initiatives through our Schools in Need grant program. Last year, more than $1,800,000 was distributed to assist schools and launch new academic models.
The Star Grant program helps fund creative academic initiatives. Teachers and staff members apply to receive grants of up to $1,500 each to implement new curricula that can later be shared with other schools.
Recent Successes and Current Challenges
The Fulcrum Foundation has established $23.2 million in endowment funds and conducts annual fundraising to meet the immediate needs of Catholic schools and students. Our signature annual event, the Celebration of Light, has been recognized numerous times by the Puget Sound Business Journal as one of the "Top 25 Benefit Events" in the Northwest. The event raised more than $1.6 million in February 2013.
Tuition assistance is critical to many families as they enroll and keep their children in Catholic schools. For every child we help with a tuition assistance grant, three more are unable to be funded. Our Fund a Student program was established to directly assist more students. We are requesting gifts in increments of $1,100, the equivalent of one Fulcrum tuition assistance grant.
