Advocacy
HDC’s advocacy efforts include support of local, regional, state and federal initiatives that increase funding for affordable housing production, support of public policies that encourage or require the inclusion of affordable housing in market-rate developments and support of legislation and actions that enhance the ability of non-profit developers to meet identified needs in the communities they serve.

Member Services

HDC provides multiple opportunities for its members to work collaboratively with their peers on issues affecting affordable housing. HDC’s member services are focused on creating efficiencies in design, production and asset/property management. These goals are reached through monthly programs of interest, via ongoing affinity groups on  topics such as property management, successful design, senior housing and affordable homeownership, by task forces on specific issues and through special topical forums.. These varied settings feature educational and skill-building opportunities, peer support and the sharing of approaches and experience.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

HDC lead the campaign for the King County Veterans and Human Services Levy renewal, which provides $100 million over the next five years for housing and supportive services throughout the county – and was approved in the August 2011 election by 70% of the voters!
