Description

Kitsap County HIV AIDS Foundation (KCHAF) promotes health and social services in a non-judgmental environment for those who are HIV positive and their significant others.  The mission is to develop a knowledgeable and compassionate community, concerned with issues and prevention of HIV infection. The foundation works in cooperation with the Kitsap County Health District HIV/AIDS Program.  KCHAF strives to help create a world in which: All people affected by HIV/AIDS live with dignity and hope;Our community is educated about HIV/AIDS prevention;There is no stigma associated with HIV/AIDS; Our community is aware of the need for a cure.

KCHAF also operates a drop in center for LGBTQA youth between 13 and 20 years of age.  This youth lead, adult facilitated program uses the 40 developmental assets model, and  provide a safe spaces and support for youth to make healthy choices.

Programs

Kitsap County HIV AIDS Foundation Programs

Client Services Child & Family Fund
Financial support for expenses unique to children and families.

Client Advocacy Grants & Loans
Financial support for emergencies such as utility shut off, medications, basic telephone and housing assistance.

Essential Goods
Free bags containing essential toiletries, cleaning and household supplies.

Youth Program
Providing a safe place for youth to hang out and have structure activities focused on leadership development.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Successfully run a volunteer staffed program to provide support and activity groups for clients who desire to break their isolation.

Our greatest need is to create awareness of the issues that our population faces in order to receive and provide necessary support.
