Lighthouse Christian Church Programs
We offer two weekly worship services and educational programs for children and youth on Sunday mornings at Phantom Lake Elementary School in the Lake Hills area of Bellevue. There we're seeking to provide an inspiring and empowering environment where people encounter God personally, engage in authentic community, and experience transformed living marked by service to God and to others.
We are engaged in an ongoing partnership with Jubilee REACH Center (JRC) in Lake Hills, Bellevue's most diverse and underserved neighborhood. JRC's mission is to provide educational, emotional, and spiritual enrichment to underserved youth; support and sustain families; build community; and transform lives. Lighthouse church people participate by teaching ESL classes, tutoring children and youth, offering dental services, helping with childcare and music programs, donating and sorting clothes and other goods as needed. Our church financially supports JRC as well.
We regularly send out mission teams from our church to serve in Nairobi, Kenya and Tokyo, Japan. In Nairobi our teams have served at dental clinics, orphanages, schools and churches by offering medical care, preparing and serving meals, teaching children, participating in worship services, performing free concerts in poor areas. We have funded the building of a church, sponsored children to attend school, provided AIDS caregiver kits, and helped with other projects.
Recent Successes and Current Challenges
We just completed a three-month emphasis on "World-Changing Faith" which will result in assembling and sending 500 AIDS caregiver kits to Africa through World Vision, building several wells to provide clean water in Kenya, enabling at least 15 impoverished Nairobi children to attend school for 8 years from 1st through 8th grade, and funding an aftercare facility and social worker in Cambodia for children rescued by International Justice Mission from human trafficking.
We continually need funding to expand our ministry of sharing God's grace and truth with those on the Eastside and beyond, especially so we can grow our partnerships with those making a difference to serve the poor and oppressed locally and abroad. Another need for funds is to enable us to start more churches which also seek to share God's grace and truth with those in need.
