Motley Zoo Animal Rescue

Description

Motley Zoo Animal Rescue (MZar) has revolutionized animal rescue in the State of Washington. We are a network of volunteer foster homes, encompassing over 150 square miles, headquartered in Redmond, WA. We provide immediate medical care and behavioral training for ill, injured, neglected, abused and unwanted animals from overflowing shelters, as well as help owners surrender or when applicable, keep their pets.  We learn about each fostered animal in a home environment. This gives ample opportunity to attend to each animal’s individual needs and greatly increases the adoptability of each pet. We increase the quality of lives for both pets and people.

Mission Statement
Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is dedicated to improving the lives of animals locally, nationally and internationally; alleviating their suffering and elevating their status in society through the rescue and rehabilitation of animals in need and through the education of their community on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare, advocating the value of all animal life, in hopes to end the neglect and abuse of all animals and to end the devastating pet overpopulation through spay and neuter advocacy.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

We recently had a puppy named Dusty we thought was very sick with a liver shunt- through his story, and his very own Facebook page (The Tail of Dusty), we found a wonderful family who helped assist with his medical bills. Through this, we discovered that although he has some potential neurological issues, he will live! This generous family also helped cover Dusty's mother's vet bills when she was diagnosed with a serious bladder stone, and also his sister's when we had fears she may have also been afflicted with a liver shunt- though thankfully she is well too! This great family flew all the way down from Alaska to meet and adopt little Dusty- and ended up adopting his sister too! We have a current need for our other pets needing leg surgeries- typically luxating patellas (knee caps that don't stay in place), and also in particular, a sweetheart named Karley- a dog who's legs are slightly deformed, and she actually cannot sit! She too has her own Facebooke page: Karley, the Dog Who Couldn't Sit.
