Norse Home

Description

Norse Home is a non-profit, non-sectarian retirement and assisted living community founded in 1957 by the Scandinavian community of the Pacific Northwest. Seniors choose Norse Home because they desire increased socialization and the secure presence of caregivers for emergencies and additional care if needed. We establish and sustain a welcoming environment that maximizes the potential of later life and help to meet the emotional, physical, social and spiritual needs of our residents.

Mission Statement
Norse Home's mission is to provide a "home for life" for seniors 55 or older, at the most reasonable and equitable cost possible without compromising quality. A guiding principle behind this mission is that aging is a normal process of life and need not be a period of mental and physical deterioration.

Independent Living
We provide a safe and secure environment for our Independent Living residents.  These residents receive three nutritious meals daily, weekly housekeeping, transportation services and can participate in a variety of activities, programs, outings and events.

Assisted Living
Assisted Living Services are available for residents who wish to maintain their independence while receiving the daily support they need.  These services may include dressing and/or bathing assistance, monitoring of healthcare needs, medication management, reminders and cognitive support and life enrichment activities and programs.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

For the past 55 years we have successfully funded all of our programs through the careful management of monies from unsolicited and word of mouth donations, fees and the generosity of former residents who believe so strongly in our mission that they remembered us in their own estates. While we continue to be a financially healthy organization, in response to the past several years’ economic conditions and the adverse affect it has had upon the elderly population, we need to diversify our funding strategy by seeking corporate and individual donations.

Currently, we have a need to increase donations to our “Residents Assistance Fund”.  This fund directly provides any current resident who has outlived their resources with assistance as needed. The primary goal of this subsidy is to ensure that our residents are able to maintain their lifestyle, security and dignity as we continue to provide a “home for life.”  By giving you invest in the basic human need of affordable food and shelter for elders in your community.  We appreciate your consideration and partnership with Norse Home to greatly enhance the lives of seniors.
