North East Seattle Together Programs

In NEST’s first service year, 100 volunteers trained, supported and engaged so that they could confidently say yes when we asked, 30 trusted vendors were vetted so that 60 people could continue living in their homes with greater confidence, peace of mind and sense of community.

NEST volunteers have given 250 rides, climbed 25 ladders. One crawl space has been confirmed to be rat free, more than 100 walks were enjoyed and 10 rooms painted. Numerous floors have been vacuumed,  groceries bought, holes dug and friendly phone calls made.

NEST vendors have designed and constructed an accessible walkway. Three new roofs and countless steps have been built, door knobs replaced, homes organized and all sorts of home improvement projects completed.

NEST has held potlucks, informational sessions, NESTcafes, groups for book lovers, caregiver’s, wise elders, beaders, and walkers have been formed and enjoyed.

NEST members have attended museums and plays. Each of these enrichment activities were suggested and facilitated by members and volunteers.

NEST is just getting started.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

This time next year, NEST envisions its administrative team engaging a robust network of volunteers, vendors, activities, and to support 120 people- twice as many people as we are serving today- to live in their homes, our neighborhoods with peace of mind, a sense of belonging and something to contribute.
