Parent Trust for Washington Children Programs

Our Expectant and New Parent Services provides evidence based childbirth and early parenting classes to moms and dads in workshop and classroom settings. Our Great Starts and Conscious Fathering programs are the largest independent provider of these services in the Puget Sound region.

Our Internet and Telephone Services provide immediate 24/7 access to free parenting information, resources and advice. Our Family Help Line is the only statewide telephone service dedicated to providing parents and caregivers with parenting focused information, advice and local referrals. Our Internet services provide access to hundreds of tip sheets and "real world" solutions to everyday parenting issues.

Our Child & Teen Services provide group and individual support to children and teens throughout the state. Through group programs and our S.M.A.R.T. (Stress Management & Relaxation Training) program, children and teens gain skills to become more resilient and better able to cope with the stresses of life.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Parent Trust is a statewide leader in child abuse prevention, early learning, parenting education and pregnancy & childbirth education.

Parent Trust for Washington Children strives to provide the best in workshops, groups and classes for parents. In addition, Parent Trust continues to innovate and introduce new programs/classes including: the nationally acclaimed Becoming Parents program, Parenting Your Toddler classes and a statewide trainer for the evidence based Ages & Stages Questionnaire child assessment.

Parent Trust is seeking both programmatic and operating support.

Evaluation

Parent Trust for Washington Children is a family support agency providing direct service and training/technical services for community partners that offer parent education and support services. More than half of the children and parent/caregivers served by Parent Trust live in King County.

Accessibility
While Parent Trust’s programming is offered to all families, it also serves a high percentage of low income and single-parent families and has specialized services for Latino families and families in recovery from drug and alcohol abuse.

Proven Success
Parent Trust uses outcomes evaluation to ensure validity and efficacy of program delivery, making changes to programming as necessary. Its programs have shown to be effective in increasing knowledge of child development, decreasing social isolation, and increasing family and life management skills.

Collaboration
PTWC partners with over 40 local, regional and national organizations, sharing resources and referrals that provide parenting education and support programs for families throughout the state.
Parent Trust serves as the state office for the “Parents as Teachers” program based in St. Louis and also works collaboratively with Children’s Home Society in Auburn (for parent support groups) and King County Public Health and WCPCAN (to build awareness of post-partum depression).
