Peacock Family Services Programs

Peacock Family Center offers full day, part-time, and extended day child care for children age six weeks to five years. The program emphasizes continuity of care, where infants and toddlers age 6 weeks to 2.5 years are assigned a consistent caregiver providing a secure attachment figure for optimal development. Preschool classrooms offer consistent caregivers for children age 2.5 to 5 years.  Responsive caregiving and support for self-directed discovery are central to our early childhood program.

Our family support services are directed to the community at large and include facilitated play groups, developmental screening, childbirth education, assessment and screening for perinatal depression, case conferences, classroom observation and play therapy.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

The State of Washington Department of Commerce Childcare Facility Fund has supported Peacock Family Center as a pilot program for Washington State and nationally offering the co-location of child care, enrichment and family support services. Peacock Family Center is also a demonstration of attachment-based child care for zero to three. We are certified as one of the first "eco-healthy" child care centers nationally.

Peacock Family Center seeks volunteers to provide paraprofessional support to special needs children.  We are seeking funding for scholarships, developmental assessment and one-time capital expenses such as a child care facility systems management program. We are also seeking sponsors to support specific educational themed workshops for ongoing family education.
