Pike Market Child Care & Preschool Programs
Meal Program
The school follows USDA guidelines to prepare breakfast, lunch and two snacks each day. Our cook incorporates many fresh fruits and veggies from upstairs in the Market. The program is designed to provide 70% of each child's daily nutritional needs.
Family Support
PMCCP provides referrals, support, and assistance to families based on their individual needs. 93% of families report that being enrolled at PMCCP has positively impacted their family's ability to achieve their goals, including working, job searching, and going to school. Families under distress or in crisis find assistance in our work that allows them to stabilize and can help them avoid homelessness or public assistance.
Early Learning
PMCCP nurtures each child's individual development in fifty different skills from four learning domains. Our program focuses on developing children's communication and problem solving skills as well as building their confidence and self esteem. We ensure children have a strong foundation socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically so they are ready for kindergarten.
Recent Successes and Current Challenges
Pike Market Child Care & Preschool is in its 29th year of service. We are delighted to be starting construction this summer to remodel our school. The renovated space has been designed to not only bring our facility up to code, but it will also help us to provide services more efficiently in the historic Pike Place Market. With the project we will also be adding an additional classroom to further serve the downtown community.
Our biggest challenge is securing funding that covers the difference between the actual cost of providing quality care and what we are reimbursed by state subsidies provided to families earning low incomes. Typically, that cost is $750/month for one child. Generating funds for tuition assistance is most important during challenging economic times when families are most in need of support.
