Pottery Northwest

Description

Pottery Northwest works to engage those with an interest in ceramic arts at all levels. Classes and workshops address both amatuer and professional skill levels and lecture series appeal to patrons and collectors as well as those who wish to touch clay. Likewise exhibitions and special events are meant to expand the audience for the medium of ceramics as well as provide opportunities for artists to show and sell their work. Frequent scholarships, and excellent faculty assist in outreach to every age group and students with disabilities.

The mission of Pottery Northwest is to develop and promote excellence in the ceramic arts. Pottery Northwest's goal is to provide a professional facility in an educational atmosphere for the enhancement of skills in the medium of clay. Pottery Northwest Programs

The Artists-in-Residence program serves those on a professional track by providing low cost studio space, professonal facilities, and a vehicle for dialog and artistic exchange.

Community classes and workshops reach well over 600 students each year providing an excellent education, and an opportunity to experience every aspect of the medium of ceramics.

The Jean Griffith Fellowship annually invites an exceptional artist to work at Pottery Northwest and participate in the studio community. The fellowship provides a stipend and expenses for the artist's stay.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Recently Pottery Northwest has initiateda series of guest artists residencies that bring artists who do not normally work in ceramics into our studio. This provides a stimulating exchange with our current residents and exposesour guests to new opportunities as well.

The exceptional growth in our programming underscores our need for expanded staffing.
