Providence Marianwood Foundation

Description

Providence Marianwood is a skilled nursing provider specializing in both short term skilled nursing care and rehabilitation between hospital and home and long term care for the elderly, chronically ill and disabled. Our commitment to delivering the best care is reflected in all that we do. From the professionalism and dedication of our staff, to the way care is delivered with special attention to each person's needs, to our unique setting on four wooded acres -- Marianwood is designed and operated with healing in mind. We care for the whole person - body, mind and spirit.

Mission Statement
Providence Marianwood provides compassionate skilled nursing care for the very elderly regardless of their ability to pay. Over 75% of our long-term care residents have outlived their life savings and are dependent on the generosity of others to help pay the cost of their care. No resident at Marianwood ever need fear being asked to leave Marianwood regardless of how long they live, how sick they become or if they deplete their financial resources. All of our long-term care residents have physical or cognitive challenges and can no longer live safely in their own homes. Over 80% have Alzheimer's or age-related dementia. "As people of Providence, we reveal God's love for all, especially the poor and vulnerable, through our compassionate service."

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Over 75% of Marianwood's most elderly long term residents have exhausted their personal savings and private insurance benefits, relying on government programs. Marianwood continues to provide the same high quality care regardless of ability to pay.

As a result of our mission in providing care regardless of compensation, our expenses exceed our revenues and we depend on community support in the amount of $350,000 per year. This support is a vital part of our $10 million annual operating budget that maintains Providence Marianwood as a resource for the elderly in our community who have outlived their savings and financial resources.
