Sacred Music Chorale

Description

Observing the current shift among many churches to more contemporary music, our six founding members gathered in the fall of 1999 to discuss new and different ways of celebrating the great legacy of Christian music they had grown to love.

Thus was born the Sacred Music Chorale, an interdenominational community choir based in the Puget Sound region, whose focus was clear: to sing the great music of the Christian Church, and to give the gift of that music to our listeners.

Sacred Music Chorale Programs

We offer concerts 2-3 times per year where we focus on continuing the tradition of performing the classic music of the Christian Church. Our goal is to reach and inspire audience members who desire to hear this great classical music, which is being supplanted in many venues by more contemporary music styles.

Our group meets weekly from September through May and brings together 50-60 people who share our common love of this type of music. We are open to all who share our love of these great Christian classical works, and we provide a supportive environment for singers of all skill levels.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

On April 22, 2012, our group joined together with two other local community choirs and the Sammamish Symphony Orchestra to perform Verdi's "Requiem" in Benaroya Hall. The concert drew over 1500 people from all over the Puget Sound region and beyond to enjoy this powerful sacred work.

One of our goals is to expand the reach of our mission by building our audiences in Seattle and on the Eastside. To this end, we are stepping up our efforts to market and advertise our group during the coming year.
