Programs

Sequim Education Foundation Programs

Sequim Education Foundation:
  1. Funds classroom projects for teachers to provide exciting learning experiences for students,
  2. Manages endowment and trust funds to provide academic scholarships for graduating seniors, and,
  3. Sponsors programs to help and encourage students to succeed.
Programs for students include:
  • "Shoes for Kids" & Back to School Fair provide basic needs for under-served children;
  • Annual Engineering Challenge with scholarship prizes to encourage students in STEM subjects;
  • Annual Student Film Festival Competition with scholarship prizes to stimulate student interest in the arts; and
  • Student Enrichment Grants to fund extra-curricular learning opportunities for qualified students.
SEF sponsors an Annual Variety Show fundraiser in February, and a monthly Sequim Science Cafe' to promote understanding of STEM subjects.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Both the SEF Engineering Challenge and SEF Student Film Festival were started to encourage students to graduate high school and to further their education after graduation.  Nearly 100 scholarship prizes have been awarded to winners of the competitions in the past seven years.  Over 96% of these scholarship winners have gone on to tech schools or college after graduation.

SEF always is in need of funding for its programs.  This year, SEF has special need for funding and sponsorships for its developing a Back 2 School Fair and Family 2 Mile Fun Run which is held each Labor Day weekend.  The 1st annual Fun Run was a great success, but SEF needs additonal funding for the Back 2 School Fair which provides basic needs for under-served children.
