Tabor 100 Programs

The Green Energy Scholarship Program is one of several scholarship programs hosted and operated by Tabor 100. Our supporting partners in this program are Puget Sound Energy [PSE] and Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU).

There will be up to three $3,500 Green Energy Scholarships awarded annually, each potentially renewable for a total of three years. [Maximum full amount: $10,500 per scholar].

Proceeds from Tabor 100's Annual Gala, Dinner, and Silent Auction are one of our funding sources for our Scholarship programs.

Tabor 100 “Meet and Greet" events provide opportunities where minority entrepreneurs and business owners meet with purchasing personnel and official from the public and private sectors. The Meet and Greet events are unique, and creates an atmosphere where firms and agencies can begin the process of building business relationships.  Many minority firms have earned contracts as a result of the Meet and Greets.

Forums with Elected Officials.  Tabor 100 coordinates forums with elected officials or candidates for office.  For example, our members held meetings with the executive branch of state government including the Governor and department heads and other decision makers.  Previous Tabor 100 activities include a Forum held with members of the Seattle City Council  and a US Senatorial Legislative Forum.  Our forums are designed to educate our community about the legislative process and encourage active participation that process.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Tabor 100 has promoted small contractor and supplier programs (e.g King County, Port of Seattle) to expand business opportunities with small businesses owned by woman and minorities.

One of our recent successes, our “Youth Career & Business EXPO” was held April 13th 2011 at Seattle's Garfield High School. In this, our third year. This program provides an opportunity for teens to get a “jump start” on developing their career goals. The students gather information and talk to people in various career fields. They can receive help in putting together application materials for college, summer internships, trade schools or jobs. Teens can see what businesses and corporations have to offer. Additional offerings include informational workshops on: financial literacy, dressing for success & More!

One of Tabor's pressing needs are funds for operational staff.  Tabor 100 has been a fully volunteer based organization since its inception.  Staff will help us further, sustain the legacy and work of this proud community oriented organization.

Tabor 100 is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, our budget is Board approved and monthly updates are available online to our membership.
