The Foundation uses its expertise to support causes that strengthen our community; children, health and human services; the environment, conservation, animals, education and the arts. During 2008, The Foundation strategically awarded more than $812,000 in grants to nearly 100 nonprofits in our community.

The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound Programs

The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound's mission is to strengthen the communities we serve by connecting donors with causes that matter, providing wise stewardship for these funds, engaging in strategic grantmaking and providing leadership to address community needs.

We help donors create individual or family legacies and offer a simple way to fulfill multiple charitable intents with low-cost administration. With the help of generous donors, we are building a permanent community resource that will grow and benefit our community forever.

The Community Foundation is a center of expertise about community needs and nonprofit groups. We offer informed, personal service connecting donors with high-impact funding opportunities and guidance in selecting charities for their support.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Our Foundation is a foundation for the community, making grants to and building capacity in local organizations. We manage over 80 seperate funds, established by families, individuals and corporations. To the extent that we grow our permanent endowment, we can continue to expand grantmaking support to organizations throughout our tri-county service area.
