Valley Christian School

Description

Valley Christian School, a ministry of New Day Christian Fellowship (Auburn Free Methodist Church), offers quality education from a Christian perspective. Our goal at Valley Christian is to train the whole child – spirit, mind, and body – so that students will live responsible and successful lives based on the Word of God. Now in its 35th year of existence, Valley Christian continues to emphasize these fundamental values: faith in Jesus Christ and the authority of the Bible. Students receive instruction in Bible daily, attend chapel once each week, and learn Biblical principles which are integrated into all aspects of the curriculum.

A ministry of New Day Christian Fellowship.

Mission Statement
Valley Christian School exists to provide quality education from a Christian perspective by giving individual students attention from faculty and staff. It is assumed that each child needs to interact with Christian adults, hear the truths of Biblical teachings, and feel the love of God through people.

We emphasize the cultivation of home, school, and church relationships since education is only complete when reinforced by strong ties to families and churches.

Vision Statement
To be recognized for the spiritual and educational development of our children in the community we serve.

  • To love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Valley Christian School Programs

Classroom instruction at VCS places God in the center of all things. Dedicated, certified teachers who experience a personal relationship with Jesus Christ are the key to quality instruction and excellent academics. Core subjects include Bible, Reading, Spelling, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Music, Art, Physical Education, and Computer Keyboarding are also offered. All students in kindergarten through 8th grade receive swimming lessons each year. A variety of electives including such classes as Band, Computer Technology, Art, Yearbook, Home Economics, Drama, Computer Applications, and Quilting are open to Middle School students.

In addition to core academic subjects, students are offered a variety of extracurricular activities. Students in grade 4 may participate in Bell Choir. Students in grades 5 through 8 may choose to participate in Band or Bell Choir. Middle School sports include Track and Field (grades 5-8). In addition VCS sponsors sports such as soccer through Auburn Parks and Recreation. Students in grades 3 through 8 have the opportunity to participate in Student Council with Middle School students serving as elected officers. Throughout the year students go on fieldtrips which reinforce and enhance the teaching that takes place in the classroom.

Special highlights of each year include the Middle School Fall Spiritual Retreat in September, the all-school Christmas program in December, Young Authors’ Day in March, the Science Fair in May, 5th grade Outdoor Education Camp in May, and the Social Studies Social for grades 5-8 at the beginning of June. Graduation ceremonies for eighth graders end the year in June.

Child Care
Valley Christian School offers before and after school care for children in kindergarten through age 12. Child Care opens daily from 6:30 AM - 8:45 AM and after school from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. The school calendar is followed for holiday closures. Each day fun activities are offered as well as outdoor play to keep your child safe and busy. An area is also set up each afternoon for children who have homework.

Valley Christian School now offers daily child care between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM for three and four-year olds who are also enrolled in Valley Christian School's Preschool or Pre-Kindergarten classes. This extended care program features a curriculum with art, music, specialty interests, and enrichment activities. In addition, nutritious lunches and snacks are provided. We trust this will be a service to parents who may have a need for full-time care for their children and desire to have them in a safe, loving, Christian learning environment.

Scholarships
We offer scholarships to help more families provide a quality Christian education for the children.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

One continuing success story at Valley Christian School is that our students consistently score approximately one grade higher than their peers at other schools. Our graduates typically go into honors classes upon entry into high school and do well in them.

One current need we have is to upgrade our technology.
