Westside School Programs
Critical Thinking. Communication. Collaboration. Creativity. Character.
Our Rich Curriculum
Westside School's curriculum is integrated, which means that one topic of study (social studies or science) may include reading, writing, spelling, art, public speaking, research skills, and math. The curriculum fosters critical thinking skills and encourages the expression of opinions both verbally and in writing. There is class time devoted to specific subject matter -- math, science, humanities -- but the material comes to life and has more meaning when it is applied across a project.
It is also experiential -- learning-by-doing in concrete, meaningful situations. There is a balance between individual work time and cooperative learning, which is accomplished through non-competitive learning in small groups.
Recent Successes and Current Challenges
Westside's program is growing. We expanded into middle school in 2011.
A portion of every tuition dollar AND every dollar raised supports our Tuition Assistance Fund, which provides financial assistance to families.
