Women's Funding Alliance Programs

WFA is a high impact funder, strategically investing in progressive, community-based organizations that address the root causes of problems affecting women's and girls' well-being. Since our inception, WFA has invested in more than 100 organizations, most of them very small, in the Puget Sound region.

WFA is a voice, amplifying the most pressing issues impacting women and girls and engaging donors and other partners to invest in solutions to the challenges they face.

Recent Successes and Current Challenges

Last year, we were proud to take both our community investment and engagement activities to new levels. Women’s Funding Alliance passed the $6M mark by investing more than  $560,000 in 50 community based advocacy and service organizations that build leadership and increase economic opportunity, safety and health for women and girls. Through our donors and community partners, Women’s Funding Alliance touched the lives of more than 170,000 women and girls in Washington State.

Women's Funding Alliance produced a series of community engagement events ranging from a film series to a Town Hall about women's leadership.  Over 1,000 women and men in the Seattle-Tacoma area attended these events to become better informed and engaged around critical local, national, and international issues.

We need to better meet the demand for funding for work that advances women and girls in Washington State. This spring, Women’s Funding Alliance received $2.6M in requests from community-based organizations around the state, a 32% increase over past years. It is important that we be poised to respond to this increase.

Evaluation

This past year WFA conducted a research study that highlights the strengths and challenges facing women and girls in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Whatcom counties. After the completion of the report community forums were held to engage their stakeholders to provide reactions and input on how WFA should use the information and develop a multi-year strategic initiatives beginning in 2008.
