What We Fund

The Foundation administers more than 1,200 donor funds and manages several competitive grant programs. The Foundation considers grant proposals from tax-exempt nonprofit organizations serving King County residents. Grants are awarded through a number of programs and Foundation funds, including the Community Grantmaking Program and targeted area of interest funds that support our work to build a Healthy Community.

The Community Grantmaking Program: Our flagship grantmaking program
The Community Grantmaking Program is the largest and most flexible program, supporting a broad array of organizations that improve the quality of life for King County residents. The Foundation seeks to increase organizations’ capacities through the Community Grantmaking Program and awards grants to support general operating expenses and capital support for building campaigns, facility renovation and the purchase of equipment.

What We Fund
