As a school nurse, Jean Brockenbrough works with an interesting and challenging mix of children. At one of her schools, more than half of the students come from low-income families, and some have significant disabilities. Seeing this reality gives her perspective when she is deciding how to target her giving through The Seattle Foundation.
“Working with these children and their families allows me to see firsthand the needs they have.” Whether it’s helping to purchase equipment for disabled students or providing scholarship funds for after-school and summer day camp programs, Jean knows she is addressing real issues in her community. “I find it very satisfying to provide these children with opportunities.”
