What’s the Opportunity?
The Gifts Administrator & Fund Accountant, an exempt employee, is responsible for all aspects of fund, gifts, and investments transactions and accounting and related reporting. Following are the essential duties and responsibilities:
Assure timely receipt, entry, liquidation, and processing of gifts of cash, securities, and other assets. Ensure philanthropist funds and gifts are in appropriate investment pool.
- Produce quarterly gift reports as well as gift / grant differential.
- Establish new fund accounts, track earnings and expenses, close accounts, transfer funds and maintain proper signature authorities.
- Process investment transactions for accounts and funds as needed to ensure data are visible on a timely basis. Reconcile investment pools and allocate earnings, fees and expenses to individual philanthropist funds. Enter relevant monthly income and distributions from investment statements.
- Maintain brokerage account files. Monitor and report on investment activity, performance and allocation of Foundation’s investment portfolio, including oversight of non-standard gifts and Impact Investing.
- Process fund admin fees and ensure fees (standard and exceptions) on new funds are accurate.
- Ensure performance results and fund statements are communicated clearly and accurately to donors.
- Perform daily cash management functions to ensure adequate funding for grants; prepare instructions to move funds among pools as needed.
- Support the annual audit process for investments, funds and gifts, prepare appropriate schedules.
- Implement and execute efficient, effective processes for gifts processing and fund management.
What Are We Looking For?

- Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex ideas, financials, and processes clearly and in an engaging and audience-relevant manner
- Problem-solver with an ability to identify bottlenecks/areas of improvement along with an ability to propose solutions while maintaining a robust internal control environment
- Knowledge of accepted accounting and auditing practices and principles
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate reports for information, auditing and management use
- Excellent interpersonal skills and personal maturity; comfort and facility with effective collaboration; demonstrated ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders
- Unwavering personal and professional integrity with ability to work with confidential information
- Comfort with various accounting software technologies, especially MSFT Office products
- Capacity and attitude to serve; ability to occasionally work outside of core business hour
Bachelor degree in accounting or equivalent experience
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting (fund accounting is preferred)
- Pursuing CPA or CMA desirable
- Excellent Excel skills and previous SQL reporting responsibilities
