YGB Ignites Youth Philanthropy

Now accepting applications for Seattle Foundation’s 2017-18 Youth Grantmaking Board

November 02, 2017

By Saúl Valdez, Philanthropic Services Associate Advisor

Seattle Foundation’s Youth Grantmaking Board (YGB) helps young people learn how philanthropy can effect positive change in our community by engaging them as leaders in meaningful grantmaking that supports local causes.

This year, 15-25 high school students across King County will be selected to participate in this highly impactful program. Supported by Seattle Foundation staff and community experts, YGB members will assess community needs, select a grantmaking focus area, develop requests for proposals, review grant applications, conduct site visits and make final funding recommendations.

We are looking for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who are driven to create positive change and can help inspire more youth to join this movement.

Seattle Foundation’s inaugural Youth Grantmaking Board was established in the fall of 2006. The program has funded over $220,000 to organizations or projects that provide direct services to address our community’s greatest needs.

Please read more about YGB and complete the application form (also available as a pdf for download). If you know someone who is ideal for the Youth Grantmaking Board, please take a minute to refer them with this nomination form.

If you have any questions, please email ygb@seattlefoundation.org or call 206.388.1667.

The deadline to apply is Monday, Dec. 4, at 11:59 p.m.
