Welcome to GiveBIG 2016 – “Together We Can Make an Impact”
I’m Erica Klinger, Seattle Foundation's director of marketing and the project manager for GiveBIG 2016. Our GiveBIG Team is very excited about the many changes we have in store to make your organization’s participation more successful than ever. We start with Part 1 of a four-part GiveBIG toolkit. This “Campaign in a Box” outlines a strategic plan for community nonprofits to make the most of GiveBIG.

Toolkit for Nonprofits – Part One
We know that together, we can make a difference. It’s this collective power that makes “Together We Can Make an Impact” a fitting theme for this year’s GiveBig. Heading into its sixth year, we have set the date of May 3 as Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG 2016. This date coincides with, and allows us to be part of, a larger national effort called Give Local sponsored by Kimbia, an online fundraising platform serving nonprofits across the country. Last year, donors across many states participated in the Give Local event which raised a staggering $68.5 million in 24 hours. For the second year in a row, Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG was recognized in the The Chronicle of Philanthropy as having raised the most funds for nonprofits – $16.3 million in 2015, which was a 16% increase in donors and an 18% increase in individual gifts over 2014.
Can we go bigger in 2016?
We believe we can – together. This topic on how to reach new heights was a conversation across all of our partners, nonprofit focus groups, our donors, technology partners and sponsors over for the last year. It all came back to a general theme – make GiveBIG easier and start communication earlier so there is more time for planning.
We are excited to share part one of a four-part “Campaign in a Box” DIY (Do it Yourself) toolkit that outlines a strategic plan to empower community nonprofits with the tools and resources they need to leverage the GiveBIG platform in new, innovative ways. We have also included a new checklist to help keep your team organized.

GiveBIG Digital Media Workshops
All GiveBIG nonprofit participants are invited to a training workshop hosted by The Seattle Times, focused on digital
media campaign planning. Workshop dates are:
February 24: 8:00am - 9:30am (continental breakfast)
February 24: 11:30am - 1:15pm (lunch will be provided)
February 25: 4:00pm - 5:30pm (refreshments available)
