Tip on Matching Grant Totals

The "Total Funds Raised" on your GiveBIG Profile page INCLUDES online donations AND matching dollars realized. Your reporting reflects only online donations.

May 10, 2017

Some nonprofits have approached us today with this important question:

Q: How come the Total Funds Raised on my GiveBIG Profile doesn’t match the Total Funds Raised in my reporting?

A: The Total Funds Raised on your GiveBIG Profile page INCLUDES online donations AND matching dollars realized.  Your reporting reflects only online donations.

As matching funds are realized or “earned,” the Matching Fund Counter declines (since it tracks the match remaining) and the Total Funds Raised counter increases by including 1) amount of the online donation AND 2) amount of the realized match.  For example, a $100.00 donation will register as $200 in your Total Funds Raised (donation plus match).  Your reporting only provides the online donation amounts; it does not reflect the matching funds realized.

If you have further questions, please email givebig@seattlefoundation.org.  We are working hard to provide excellent customer service to all of our nonprofit partners and donors.  Thank you for your patience and all your support on this magical day of generosity!
