We are excited to announce that GiveBIG will continue in 2019, managed by 501 Commons in collaboration with its partner, Encore Media Group. Seattle Foundation’s team has worked with these partners for the last eight months to design this transition and we are very encouraged by their plans to continue our highly successful giving day into the future.
As you know, Seattle Foundation launched GiveBIG in 2011. We created this annual, one-day online giving campaign with the goal of helping nonprofits develop effective social media and online fundraising capabilities. Held every spring, GiveBIG has become a signature philanthropic event for the region, energizing and unifying donors to support a diverse range of causes that make Greater Seattle a stronger, more vibrant community for all.
Having incubated and grown GiveBIG into one of the nation’s largest giving days, Seattle Foundation began to pursue the development of a succession plan with the Giving Day Nonprofit Coalition, comprised of more than 100 nonprofit leaders. 501 Commons, a nonprofit that provides services designed to amplify the strengths of nonprofits, will be the new home for GiveBIG. Encore Media Group, a local business that connects businesses and brands with consumers through its publications and media services, will develop and manage the campaign, marketing and communications. CiviCore, which provides the easy-to-use online giving platform, will continue as the technology partner. 501 Commons is working with the Coalition to form a GiveBIG Advisory Council for the annual campaign. Seattle Foundation will consult with these organizations to support GiveBIG’s success in 2019.
GiveBIG has raised more than $113 million since its inception, supporting more than 2,000 nonprofits. We are delighted to see the nonprofit sector step forward to lead GiveBIG and believe the community’s annual giving day is in excellent hands with 501 Commons and Encore Media. This partnership promises to build on the success of GiveBIG and allows the nonprofit sector to drive its evolution as online giving continues to grow and change.
GiveBIG 2019 is planned for May 8. Nonprofits can expect to receive more information from the Coalition and 501 Commons within the next week. Existing nonprofit profiles will continue to be available on the new website GiveBIG2019.org.
On behalf of Seattle Foundation, I thank the nonprofits, sponsors and donors for your participation and support in making GiveBIG a powerful catalyst for community philanthropy. We congratulate 501 Commons and Encore Media and look forward to GiveBIG’s continued success.
