GiveBIG is May 8!
What nonprofits will you support?

My favorite thing to do every year on GiveBIG is to leave the search box empty and hit “enter.” Have you ever tried it? It is a wonderful way to discover nonprofits that are doing amazing work in our community, including organizations that you might not have heard of. Last year, the “empty search box” led me to discover Yoga Behind Bars and Open Doors for Multicultural Families, two impactful and inspirational nonprofits that are doing awesome work in our community.
Already this year, the “empty search box” has led me to add the Detective Cookie Chess Park and 703 - Short, Gay and Delicious to my donation list, which currently includes The Art of Alzheimers, Chief Seattle Club, the Washington Ferret Association and many more. (Who knows what other wonderful organizations I will discover and add to my list between now and May 8!)
GiveBIG has raised more than $113 million since its inception, supporting more than 2,000 nonprofits. Founded and produced by Seattle Foundation for eight years, GiveBIG transitioned in 2019 to the nonprofit sector and is now presented by 501 Commons. It is the day when Greater Seattle comes together to support the nonprofits that are working to make life in our region better. Imagine the impact you can have on the lives of others and the difference you can make by joining this community effort.
Now, more than ever, we must support the nonprofits that shape our community and uphold the values that make Seattle so special. Now, through Wednesday, May 8, I encourage you to leave the search box empty, hit “enter” and discover all of the wonderful organizations that you can support: www.givebig2019.org.
If you have a Community Philanthropy Fund or Family Foundation with Seattle Foundation, you can request a donation to a nonprofit participating in GiveBIG.
