As the Strategic Initiatives and Governance Manager, Brett works to ensure efficient and effective operations of the Board, and manages and supports executive-level strategic initiatives that contribute to Seattle Foundation’s overall success.
Personal Philanthropic Interests
Before coming to Seattle Foundation, Brett had an extensive career in public service. For eight years he served as an appointee in the Obama Administration at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), a federal agency focused on getting the best value out of government real estate, acquisition and technology. At GSA, Brett served as the Deputy Associate Administrator for Policy and the Associate Administrator for Strategic Communication. In both roles, he developed and executed strategic plans in support of critical national priorities, provided political and communications advice to leadership and worked to engage and empower employees.
Prior to that, Brett served on then-Senator Obama’s presidential campaign, beginning as a Volunteer Coordinator in Des Moines, Iowa in 2007 and concluding as a Regional Operations Director in Chicago, Illinois. He worked for Senator Patty Murray prior to Obama’s presidential campaign. He is a graduate of Chapman University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science.
Brett has been working at Seattle Foundation since 2019.
