Alice Ito

Alice serves as strategic partner to the President & CEO and champions racial equity, social justice, and inclusion, including how they inform Seattle Foundation’s strategy, operations, and board governance. She also advises and supports Seattle Foundation’s evolving work to reimagine community philanthropy through a racial equity, anti-racism, and justice lens both locally and nationally.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Alice served as Distinguished Fellow at Community Change, a national organization building power among people most marginalized by injustice to change policies and institutions, to achieve a society where all communities thrive. Alice previously served as a program officer at Marguerite Casey Foundation. She also co-founded organizations including the Asian Women’s Shelter in San Francisco, and API Chaya and Communities Rise in Seattle. Alice has volunteered on numerous boards including Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, and Social Justice Fund NW. She has staffed and consulted to community-based nonprofits and philanthropic organizations for more than 30 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in human biology from Stanford University and attended the program in public policy at Claremont Graduate University. Alice previously served as Director, Community Programs at Seattle Foundation.

Alice has been working at Seattle Foundation since 2014.
