Longtime education and social justice advocate, Diana White, joins the board of trustees.

Diana White is a passionate community leader focused on education, equity, and social justice. She is an enrolled member of Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe and works to educate the local community on issues facing Native people today. She is committed to bringing more Coast Salish art, food, and culture to South Snohomish County.

White’s appointment to the Board continues Seattle Foundation’s deepening commitment to racial equity, explains Board Chair Ed Taylor. “The scope of Diana’s community roots is remarkable,” he says. “At the same time, she lifts up the art and voices of Native youth and calls us to see connections past and present. And she brings an important appreciation of financial stewardship and a commitment to transparent operations.”

Diana is a member of the Blue Heron Canoe Family, an intertribal community that comes together yearly for the Tribal Canoe Journey. The event emphasizes inclusion and commitment to carrying on the Indigenous ways and culture of the Coast Salish People.

“As a longtime education and social justice advocate, I have witnessed the impact foundations and philanthropy can make in addressing critical issues in the community, especially issues disproportionally affecting people of color. I am impressed with Seattle Foundation’s commitment to equity and look forward to working with the leadership team to continue this important work,” Diana said.

Diana was a commercial insurance underwriter in her early career, earning her C.P.C.U. designation. She left the corporate sector to raise four exceptional children. Diana served two terms on the Edmonds School Board, where she lives with her husband, Steve. They enjoy entertaining, exploring the arts, paddleboarding, and traveling in their free time.

She earned her Finance degree from Washington State University.
