Funder Collaboratives
Partnering with other funders and foundations to increase collective impact.
We recognize that we can achieve more by working in partnership with our philanthropic peers to catalyze and drive deeper impact in the community. Aligned with our Blueprint for Impact, Seattle Foundation leads and participates in a small number of funder collaboratives aimed at increasing resources, learning collectively and amplifying impact through collaboration.
Funder collaboratives are formalized partnerships with at least three institutional funding partners who make joint funding investments to advance shared long-term goals. We support funder collaboratives through our leadership role, financial commitment, staff time and grantmaking.
Our Funder Collaboratives
In addition to our Core Grantmaking Programs that are also funder collaboratives, Neighbor to Neighbor and Fund for Inclusive Recovery, we also host and contribute to the following collaboratives:
Sustainable Communities Funders (SCF)
This collaborative effort invests, aligns and pools resources across the region to address issues where environmental sustainability intersects with equitable inclusion and economic opportunity. Established in 2013, this collaborative brings together individual donors, Bullitt Foundation, Satterberg Foundation and Seattle Foundation to advance shared priorities through grantmaking. Our current work includes learning about and supporting environmentally sustainable farming efforts that drive structural economic change by fostering alternatives to extractive farming practices and center opportunities for those who have been historically excluded from equitable access to farming and healthy food. Additionally, we invest in climate through transportation policy that reduces barriers to transit use through increased access, safety, and community-led solutions.
The Washington Immigrant & Refugee Funders Collaborative (WAIRFC)
The Washington Immigrant & Refugee Funders Collaborative (WAIRFC) is a statewide philanthropic network that organizes philanthropy to meet the urgent and long‑term needs of immigrant and refugee communities in Washington State. We bring together funders across philanthropy, government, and intermediary organizations to coordinate resources, strategy, and influence to ensure that immigrant and refugee communities—and organizations that serve them—are supported and thriving. We provide a trusted home for funders to understand the social, political, economic and legal conditions that impact immigrants and refugees, move towards partnerships and meaningful investments to immigrant and refugee-led organizations, and collectively have an impact on the durable infrastructure that strengthens community power.
WAIRFC is where philanthropy comes together to act with courage, coordination, and care—so immigrant and refugee communities can not only endure, but thrive.
Together, WAIRFC supports immigrant‑ and refugee‑led organizations that are navigating political volatility, funding instability, and rising community needs—so that there is coordinated philanthropic support required to sustain their work.
