Seattle Foundation Names New Chief Philanthropy Officer   

Wong’s appointment ushers in a new era of growth for the organization as it celebrates 80 years of long-term investments across the Greater Seattle region  

Today, Seattle Foundation, the region’s leader in community-centered philanthropy and giving, announced the appointment of local Seattle strategist and grant maker Elizabeth Wong as Chief Philanthropy Officer. She will report directly to the President and CEO and serve as a member of the organization’s senior leadership team.   

With more than three decades of leadership in philanthropic services, strategic advising, grantmaking, and organizational development, Wong brings expertise guiding philanthropists, family foundations, and institutions in creating meaningful, lasting impact.  

As Chief Philanthropy Officer, Wong will lead Seattle Foundation’s philanthropic services portfolio, ensuring individuals, families, and organizations have a trusted partner throughout every stage of their giving journey. Her appointment reflects Seattle Foundation’s commitment to equipping donors with the expertise, resources, and partnerships needed to maximize their generosity while working towards a more joyful and prosperous Greater Seattle region.  

Through Wong’s leadership and expertise, Seattle Foundation will enter a new era of growth as it continues directing transformative capital into the Greater Seattle region. This includes rolling out cutting-edge services for current and prospective donors, designed to maximize impact and build a vibrant community of giving.

Prior to joining Seattle Foundation, Wong spent more than a decade at Foundation Source, one of the nation’s largest providers of philanthropic services, where she led philanthropic advisory strategy and a team of advisors helping clients achieve their charitable goals. Before Foundation Source, she held leadership positions across the philanthropic and private sectors, including the Gates Foundation, where she worked directly with the Gates family and managed a more than $90 million portfolio of Special Initiative and Family Interest grants, as well as JP Morgan Private Bank Global Foundations Group, the Aspen Institute Business and Society Program, and the Council on Foundations International Programs.  

Recognized as a trusted advisor and collaborative leader, Wong has spent her career turning generosity into lasting community impact. She serves on the boards of the Gates Foundation Alumni Network, Digital Green, and the Center for Large Landscape Conservation.
