The Alden Landis Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Alden Landis, who died on December 20, 2011 at the age of 23 while in service in the Peace Corps in Mozambique, Africa. The essential theme of this scholarship fund is to reflect and memorialize the values that Alden stood for during her life and the uniquely inspiring way she lived. Through this fund we will help keep her spirit alive, and allow many others to be inspired and supported by that spirit. The fund will allow Alden to be introduced to the community of students who will consider applying for the scholarship and encourage the scholarship award winners to follow in her footsteps.

The scholarship is intended for high school students (grades 9-11) who demonstrate financial need and who are enrolled in a summer study abroad or service trip run by a 501(c)(3) public charity. Students must demonstrate a commitment to other cultures and community service.
