Nonprofit capacity building
Prior to joining the Foundation, Alice served as Distinguished Fellow at the Center for Community Change, a national nonprofit building people’s capacity to improve their communities and public policies, particularly low-income communities and communities of color. Alice co-founded organizations including the Asian Women’s Shelter in San Francisco, and the Nonprofit Assistance Center and API Chaya in Seattle. Alice has served on numerous boards including Neighborhood Funders Group, Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy and Social Justice Fund NW. She has staffed and consulted to community-based nonprofits and philanthropic organizations for more than 25 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in human biology from Stanford University and attended the program in public policy at Claremont Graduate University. Alice previously served as Director, Community Programs at Seattle Foundation.
